Spring is happening in many areas now and our staff is getting lots of calls
about seed placed fertilizer.
There is a great little spreadsheet tool that was developed by SDSU
in Brookings SD a few years ago. The spreadsheet is based on research in SD
but is very good information for our whole region. Our staff uses this tool
all the time to help figure out how much fertilizer can be placed with the
seed. While every fertilizer source is not provided in this spreadsheet,
most of the common liquid and dry fertilizer types are included.
You do need some information from the grower to use this calculator
to determine the amount of fertilizer you can safely place with the seed.
|
You need to know: |
| |
Row spacing
(7.7", 15", 30" etc.) |
| |
Seed spread
width (1",2",3" etc.) |
| |
% stand the
grower can live with (90%, 95% etc.) |
| |
Soil Moisture (moist, borderline, dry, etc.)

Confidence And
Knowledge
Selecting New And Better Products
Wensman Seed is totally committed to bringing you the very best corn hybrids
and soybean varieties. As Product Manager, I am responsible for evaluating
the data collected in our extensive breeding and yield trial efforts.
Our research trials are planted in hundreds of locations in
Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. This wide range of
locations ensures that every corn hybrid and every soybean variety is tested
in different soil types and moisture conditions. Extensive |
notes are
taken at each location several times during the growing season and at
harvest. Our analysis of the data gives us a very good indication of
the products characteristics, such as disease tolerance, maturity and
yield.
The CONFIDENCE & KNOWLEDGE gained through our field research each
summer is the foundation for our product line-up. That CONFIDENCE &
KNOWLEDGE will contribute significantly to your potential PROFIT when
you place your trust in Wensman Seed.
